Cattle Raised with Heart, Passion, & Purpose

We are Diego and Gaizkane De Carvalho, a husband-and-wife team raising miniature & midsize Scottish Highland and HighPark cattle in North Texas. We focus on producing cattle with calm temperament, balanced conformation, and beautiful, fluffy faces.

Diego
Raised ranching alongside his father in Brazil, Diego developed a deep connection to livestock from a young age. After moving to the United States at just 19 years old, Diego worked as a ranch hand and feedlot worker before becoming a farrier - a role he has proudly served in North Texas for over 23 years.
Over the years, Diego has built his own Angus herd, growing it to 40 head, and caring for them in his spare time is what he enjoys most. He brings a lifetime of experience, patience, and steady leadership to the farm - serving as the strong, solid ground that anchors everything we do.
Gaizkane
I was born and raised in the Basque Country of Spain, to parents who grew up on farms. After living in multiple countries, I made Texas my home in 2007, where I met the love of my life, Diego. I became a nurse shortly after and have proudly served our community as a cardiac nurse for 13 years.
A lifelong animal lover, I have always been passionate about horses and have recently discovered the joy of working with cattle. When the chance arose to build our own herd of Scottish Highlands, we jumped in! Today, I am the passion, visionary, and driving force behind our program and we are excited to see where this journey will take us.

We raise healthy, well-balanced miniature cattle through ethical breeding, thoughtful genetics, and calm, hands-on care. We do not include the chondro gene in our program and focus on selecting naturally shorter cattle to produce smaller, sound animals. While it might take us longer to reach our ultimate goal, we believe this approach produces healthier, more balanced animals in the long run.

We believe nature knows best, so we prioritize dam-raised calves to ensure healthy social development, safety, and lifelong health. When calves reach 5-6 months of age, we separate them by following the fence-weaning method to make the transition less stressful. Once everyone settles down, we start the socialization process, introduce them to halter training, and get them ready for their new homes.
Our vaccination and health care protocols are driven by the recommendations of our local vet, birthing experience, and the individual needs of each calf. Our protocol includes the following:

MF Butterscotch 01.24.25
"Butter" is one of the sweetest and fluffiest calves we have. He was one of the easiest calves to train - quick learner and extremely food motivated. He has the sweetest disposition and is fully halter broke. He is our farm photoshoot model as he is easy to work with and is extremely photogenic.

MF Maple 02.07.25
Maple was a sweet but sassy little heifer. She was tiny from birth and stayed that way till she left the farm. She had the prettiest red fluffy coat and a beautiful square little head. We were happy to see her go to a nearby farm where we can follow her growth.

MF Romeo 11.19.25
Romeo was born unassisted and was up quick. He weighed 40lbs and was 23in tall. He is out of a first time mom with great maternal instincts. He has a curious personality, like his dam, and calm demeanor like his sire. He's fully vaccinated and castrated prior to weaning. He had 30 days of training and was started on the halter. He joined

MF Silver Belle 01.04.26
Belle was born at a record time! Her dam, a first time mom, needed a little guidance at first, but once we showed her the ropes, she has been a fantastic mom. The close relationship I have with her has allowed me to be hands on with Belle from the moment she was born. Who doesn't love tha

MF Silver Grace 02.03.26
Grace was short, stocky, and had the most beautiful dense silver coat at birth. She was cleaned and feeding in no time by her dam who is fantastic - always attentive and caring to her calves. Grace is sweet and calm like her sire, petit in stature, and LOVES being brushed. Sh

This handsome steer is on the higher end of midsize with an impressive horn set. He has a calm, gentle personality and is more on the shy side, but absolutely loves being brushed and will happily take feed from your hand. He's content doing his own thing and would make a beautiful addition to a pasture or small farm looking for a quiet, easygoing Highland.
He's UpToDate on vaccinations and had his feet trimmed in February.
